Fix Blank Screen Error on WhatsApp

Experiencing a blank screen when opening chats on WhatsApp can disrupt your communication.

This issue is often linked to the latest version of WhatsApp Beta.

Here are some steps to resolve the problem:

Why is WhatsApp Blank Screen Error?

The blank screen error typically arises due to bugs in the latest WhatsApp Beta version.

Users have reported that while the home page is visible, individual chats display a blank page.

Notably, the Meta AI chat may function correctly, but other conversations remain inaccessible.

How To Fix WhatsApp Blank Screen Error?

Fix 1: Leave WhatsApp Beta and Reinstall the App

Exiting the Beta program and reinstalling the official app can resolve this issue.

  • Steps:
    1. Backup Chats:
      • Open WhatsApp and tap the three dots in the top-right corner.
      • Go to Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
      • Tap Back Up to save your chats.
    2. Leave Beta Program:
      • Open the Google Play Store and search for “WhatsApp”.
      • Scroll down to find the Beta program section.
      • If enrolled, tap Leave to exit the program.
    3. Uninstall WhatsApp:
      • Go to your device’s Settings > Apps > WhatsApp.
      • Tap Uninstall to remove the app.
    4. Reinstall Official Version:
    5. Restore Chats:
      • Open WhatsApp and follow the setup instructions.
      • When prompted, restore your chat backup.

This process reinstalls the stable version of WhatsApp, potentially resolving the blank screen error.

Fix 2: Install an Older Version of WhatsApp

If the issue persists, reverting to an earlier app version may help.

  • Steps:
    1. Uninstall Current Version:
      • Ensure your chats are backed up (refer to Fix 1).
      • Uninstall WhatsApp from your device.
    2. Download Older Version:
      • Visit a reputable third-party site like Uptodown.
      • Navigate to Older versions and select a version prior to November 1, 2024 (e.g., October 29, 2024).
      • Download the chosen APK file.
    3. Install the APK:
      • Open the downloaded file and tap Install.
      • You may need to enable installations from unknown sources in your device settings.
    4. Restore Chats:
      • Open WhatsApp and complete the setup process.
      • Restore your chat backup when prompted.

Using an earlier version can bypass bugs present in the latest release.

Fix 3: Share a WhatsApp Profile Picture

Some users have found that sharing a profile picture can temporarily fix the blank screen issue.

  • Steps:
    1. Open WhatsApp:
      • Tap on any contact’s profile picture.
    2. Access Info:
      • Tap the info (i) icon.
    3. Share Profile Picture:
      • Tap the three dots in the top-right corner.
      • Select Share and send it to yourself or another contact.

This workaround has been reported to resolve the blank screen temporarily.
